About Jilin University of Finance and Economics
Jilin University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) was established as a training class for Northeast Bank employees in July 1946. It later went through several stages, and has the names of Northeast Bank School(1950), Jilin Finance and Trade College (1958) and Changchun Taxation College(1992) successively. In March 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school has officially changed its name to Jilin University of Finance and Economics. After more than six decades' development, the university has become a key comprehensive university in Jilin province, offering programs covering extensive disciplines in economics, management, law, arts, science and engineering.
The University consists of 36 schools, departments and research centers. It is authorized to confer bachelor's degrees in 31 disciplines and master's degrees in 27 disciplines. In addition, it is one of the selected universities to offer MBA and J.M. programs.
Currently the University has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, including over 10,000 full-time undergraduate students, some 1000 postgraduate students and around 40 international students. 60 years since its foundation, the University has had over 90,000 graduates, many of whom hold important positions in every kind of field, from major financial institutions, research institutes, universities, and companies to government organizations.
The University boasts a qualified faculty of 637 full-time teachers, including 120 professors and 285 associate professors as well as 20 foreign teachers. Among the teachers, some are Chief Experts of Significant Projects of the Ministry of Educations (MOE), some enjoy the special bonus granted by the State Council, some have won the title of ‘National Prominent teacher’, some are awarded as ‘National Excellent Young Teacher; 1 of whom is selected as “Trans-Century Outstanding Personnel” by the MOE. One is the member of the Teaching Guidance Committee on Economics Disciplines of MOE; three are senior specialists of Jilin province, and four are top class talents of Jilin province.
The University adheres to the strategy of growing by research. In the past 5 years, it has successfully completed over 300 national/ministerial research projects, and published 130 academic books and 1,000 academic papers in core magazines. 30 achievements of research projects won ministerial level or above awards. The University’s journals “Contemporary Economics Research” and “Taxation and Economics” have become core periodicals in economics, and are among the First Top 100 National Social Science journals in China.
The University is active in developing international academic exchange and cooperation. So far, the university has established cooperative relationships with over 30 universities from America, Canada, Japan, Korea, Australia, Russia and other countries and regions. The collaboration with the Charles Sturt University of Australia has been ratified as the first state of the international cooperation program by the State Council, which currently has an enrollment of over 2,000 students. Other exchange programs include a 2+2 undergraduate program with Korea and two 1+2 postgraduate programs with Japan and the U.S. respectively.
The University has modern teaching-and-research facilities, quality athletic and logistic service enhanced with easy internet connection. The school’s library houses over 2 million volumes, and each year more than 1500 periodicals at home and abroad are subscribed. Covering an area of 110 acres, the campus is full of lawns, trees and gardens.
